夕顔 (YûGao) “Yûgao” litterally means “evening face”. There are also 昼顔 (HiruGao) “noon face” and 朝顔 (AsaGao) “morning face”. These are indeed the names of plants. Despite etymological similarities, the 夕顔 (YûGao) “evening face” belongs to ウリ科 (URiKa) “cucurbits family” whereas the other two belong to ヒルガオ科 (HiRuGaOKa) “Hirugao family of plants”.
